How to get the best possible price

My name is Helen Killip. My daughter’s partner sold a property in the past with a Jenman agent, and he recommended that I consider doing likewise. I hadn’t heard about Jenman. I am very grateful that he discussed Jenman with me.

He basically knew that I was not keen on auction or open-for-inspections. He kept saying that it might be better to go with Jenman, so I did. I don’t like auctions because it is an experience that I’ve lived through before. Not a happy one. I don’t like the fact that it is so stressful, and I don’t feel that you get the best result, anyway.

The problems with Auctions

They tend to pressure you into signing, and once they have your signature, then you lose all power and all control and all say. I find that extremely intimidating and stressful and worrying. The agent that I had through first quoted me a million dollars, and I felt that was very unrealistic. He was super confident. He did that so he could get the business. That’s all he was thinking of.

And then further down the track, he would explain, in his own way, why he didn’t get the amount that he quoted. When I first met Katie, it only took me a few minutes to realise that this was the person that I wanted to handle the sale of my property. I just felt comfortable and safe, I suppose. The price that she quoted me was $890,000 to $945,000. The price that we were advertising was $930,000 so I would have been very happy.

Go with a Jenman Agency

Now I’m very, very happy. I’m very, very happy because Katie got an excellent price for my unit. That price was $935,500. I wouldn’t have gotten the same result, had we gone to auction. Katie brought me two offers. The amount of the first offer was $890,000 and the second offer was the one that was accepted. The difference was about $40,000 to $45,000. It was a big difference. Just go with Jenman.
